My Love of Words
I’ve always been fascinated by words. I love how they capture our imagination, transport us to other worlds, and ignite the inspiration that lies within us all. But mostly, I love that the right words, at the right time, can feel like they were written just for you. That feeling is an important reminder that despite our differences, at our very core we all share in the human experience.
Below are some quotes from inspirational people that struck me as being full of hope, wisdom, and personality. I hope these words resonate with you as well. Or if nothing else, make you stope and think a little differently.
If you have any favorite quotes of your own, I’d be grateful to hear them! There’s no shortage of beautiful, moving, or thought provoking words out there. And I tend to think the more we share the better!
Motivational Quotes To Live By
I hope that in this year to come, you make mistakes. Because if you are making mistakes, then you are making new things, trying new things, learning, living, pushing yourself, changing yourself, changing your world. You’re doing things you’ve never done before, and more importantly, you’re doing something. So that’s my wish… Don’t freeze, don’t stop, don’t worry that it isn’t good enough, or it isn’t perfect, whatever it is: art, or love, or work or family or life. Whatever it is you’re scared of doing, do it. Make your mistakes, next year and forever. // Neil Gaiman

It’s a terrible thing, I think, in life to wait until you’re ready. I have this feeling now that actually no one is ever ready to do anything. There is almost no such thing as ready. There is only now. And you may as well do it now. Generally speaking, now is as good a time as any. // Hugh Laurie
The important thing is this: to be ready at any moment to sacrifice what you are for what you could become. // Charles Dickens
A man who procrastinates in his choosing will inevitably have his choice made for him by circumstance… You have no choice but to accept things as they are, or to seriously seek something else. . . . // Hunter S. Thompson
Travel is not reward for working, it’s education for living. // Anthony Bourdain

[H]ow do you know who you are and what works for you if you don’t find out where the edge is, where’s your line? You’ve got to step over it to know where it is. // Brad Pitt
Often we imagine that we will work hard…arrive at some distant goal, and then we will be happy. This is a delusion. Happiness is the result of a life lived with purpose. Happiness is not an objective. It is the movement of life itself, a process, an activity. // Ethan Hawke
Work hard in silence, let your success be your noise. // Frank Ocean
For what it’s worth…it’s never too late, or in my case too early, to be whoever you want to be. There’s no time limit. Start whenever you want. You can change or stay the same. There are no rules… We can make the best or the worst of it. I hope you make the best of it. I hope you see things that startle you. I hope you feel things you’ve never felt before. I hope you meet people who have a different point of view. I hope you live a life you’re proud of, and if you’re not, I hope you have the courage to start over again. // F. Scott Fitzgerald
You won’t find reasonable men at the tops of tall mountains. // Hunter S. Thompson
In the forest, there was a crooked tree and a straight tree. Every day, the straight tree would say to the crooked tree, ‘Look at me…I’m tall, and I’m straight, and I’m handsome. Look at you…you’re all crooked and bent over. No one wants to look at you.’ And they grew up in that forest together. And then one day the loggers came, and they saw the crooked tree and the straight tree, and they said, ‘Just cut the straight trees and leave the rest.’ So the loggers turned all the straight trees into lumber and toothpicks and paper. And the crooked tree is still there, growing stronger and stranger every day. // Tom Waits
Anything that just costs money is cheap. // John Steinbeck
We are all responsible for our actions, our behavior, and our words, and we must take responsibility for everything we say and do. When you get your head wrapped around that, you can no longer think of life as a series of random events—you participate in life in a way you didn’t previously. I am an architect of my destiny. I am in charge. I bring that to me, or I push it away. You can no longer blame other people for things that happened to you. // Madonna

Each of us must confront our own fears, must come face to face with them. How we handle our fears will determine where we go with the rest of our lives. To experience adventure or to be limited by the fear of it. // Judy Blume

The thing I really want to emphasize is…when you have a dream, it doesn’t often come at you screaming in your face. Sometimes a dream almost whispers… it never shouts… So you have to, every day of your lives, be ready to hear what whispers in your ear. // Steven Spielberg
We love what we love. Reason does not enter into. In many ways, unwise love is the truest love. Anyone can love a thing because. That’s as easy as putting a penny in your pocket. But to love something despite. To know the flaws and love them too. That is rare and pure and perfect. // Patrick Rothfuss
The problems of the world cannot possibly be solved by skeptics or cynics whose horizons are limited by the obvious realities. We need men who can dream of things that never were. // John F. Kennedy
